Jon Ronson is an award-winning writer and documentary maker whose 2004 book, The Men Who Stare at Goats, was made into a major Hollywood movie starring George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges.
His books include The Psychopath Test: A Journey Through the Madness Industry (2011) and Them: Adventures with Extremists (2001), as well as two collections; Out of the Ordinary: True Tales of Everyday Craziness (2006) and What I Do: More True Tales of Everyday Craziness (2007).
Jon Ronson's latest book, Lost at Sea, revisits his favourite themes of madness, strange behaviour and the human mind. He’s been on patrol with America’s real-life superheroes; gone to a UFO convention in the Nevada desert with Robbie Williams; interviewed a robot and asked her if she has a soul; travelled to the Alaskan theme town of North Pole (where every day is Christmas Day) to investigate a high-school murder plot; met a man who tried to split the atom in his kitchen and another who is preparing to welcome aliens to earth.
In this special event he talks about these frequently hilarious, sometimes disturbing, but always entertaining stories.
Concession price for this event is available to Glasgow residents who are under 18, full-time students, unemployment benefit claimants, disabled people and those whose source of income is a DSS state retirement pension (evidence is required).
