Caroline Moorehead and Elliot Perlman

A session looking at memory, racism and the human capacity for bravery, friendship, guilt, resilience, heroism, and unexpected kindness. Australian novelist Elliot Perlman’s The Street Sweeper is a sweeping novel of twentieth-century American history that spans over 50 years, ranging from New York to Melbourne, Chicago, Warsaw and Auschwitz. Caroline Moorehead’s A Train in Winter blends history and multiple biography to provide a portrait of 230 French women resisters who were sent to Auschwitz and what happened to the survivors.
