Two Hundred Years of the Clyde Steamers
New Event - Just Announced!
For two centuries Scots have been sailing “doon the water” to sample the pleasures of the Firth of Clyde - starting with world’s first commercial steamship, the Comet, in 1812 and continuing today with the Waverley. Andrew Clark comes to Aye Write! to discuss his book Pleasures of the Firth: Two Hundred Years of the Clyde Steamers, which explores the attachment that grew between the holidaymakers and the ships that took them downriver.
