David Kinloch was born and brought up in Glasgow, and educated in Glasgow and Oxford. He is the author of four collections of poetry including Un Tour d'Ecosse and In My Father's House. A founder co-editor of the poetry magazine Verse, he is a recipient of the Robert Louis Stevenson Memorial Award and currently holds an SAC Writer's Bursary. A founder Director (with Donny O'Rourke and Martin Connor) of the Glasgow poetry society, Vital Synz, he is Reader in English at the University of Strathclyde where he teaches creative writing and Scottish literature.
