Catriona McPherson was born in South Queensferry, where her book, The Burry Man's Day is set. She did an MA and PhD in linguistics at Edinburgh University and after a spell as an academic now writes full time and lives in Galloway. Her books include After the Armistice Ball and Bury her Deep.
