Katharine Whitehorn, educated in Glasgow, pioneered the first of the newspaper personal columns – honest, frank, funny and smart. Famous for work on The Observer for 40 years, she told us how it really was. She is also famous for Cooking in a Bedsitter.
She discusses her life and work with Jenna Bailey, author of Can Any Woman Help Me?, the story of a secret magazine, and The Cooperative Correspondence Club (which ran from 1936-1990) written by women to help other women through the problems and frustrations of their lives.
