As the culmination of the festival, Aye Write! announces the winners of its new prizes.
The Sceptre Prize, awarded to a student at the Edwin Morgan Centre for Creative Writing at Glasgow University, is £1,500 and the winner will be considered for publication by Sceptre.
The Clare Maclean Prize for Scottish Fiction, named in memory of a great Glasgow reader and passionate advocate of books, is awarded to the Scottish writer who, in the opinion of the judges - Mike Gonzalez, Rob Maslen and Rosemary Goring - has written the best novel first published in 2007. An annual prize of £3,000 is awarded. From the books submitted six have been shortlisted: Iain Banks, The Steep Approach to Garbadale; John Burnside, The Devil's Footprints; Alasdair Gray, Old Men in Love; A L Kennedy, Day; Dan Rhodes, Gold; and Ali Smith, Girl Meets Boy. Roddy Woomble will introduce the awards. There will be readings from the shortlisted entries, and food and drink.
