CANCELLED - Simon Armitage and Stuart Murdoch on being in a band

Simon Armitage

Friday 14th March
19:30 - 20:30
Music
£7/£6

In Gig: the life and times of a rock-star fantasist, poet, novelist and broadcaster Simon Armitage shows how, from punk to mod to New Romantic, and eventually to acclaimed poet, music and poetry have been core to his life. And he talks about a place, the village of Marsden in West Yorkshire, where he can stand and look out across a huge circumference of inspiration and influence: Joy Division, the Smiths and The Fall to the west, the Comsat Angels and Pulp to the south, Andrew Marvell and Larkin way out east, Ted Hughes and Plath just to the north. He is in discussion with Stuart Murdoch, lead singer of Belle and Sebastian.
