In association with Aye Write! The Bank of Scotland Book Festival
The final event of Aye Write! is the award ceremony to announce the winner of the first Clare Maclean Prize. The prize commemorates the life of Glaswegian Clare Maclean, who was - according to her partner Mike Gonzalez - "an extraordinary reader. This prize in her name will encourage future lovers of reading, just as she encouraged those around her to share her passion".
Mike Gonzalez is Professor of Latin American Studies at Glasgow University and is joined on the judging panel by Rosemary Goring, Literary Editor of The Herald, and Rob Maslen, Senior Lecturer in English Literature at Glasgow University. From a strong field featuring the best of Scottish literary talent, they have the unenviable task of choosing a shortlist by the end of January. Copies of the shortlisted books will be on display in libraries around Glasgow - why not borrow a copy and see if you can pick the winner?
